The Pirates started the extended season in the Mount Prospect league with a well-fought game against South Elgin. This was a back-and-forth game that had Elgin out front until our Palatine team tied up the game just before half. We thought we had South Elgin right where we wanted them, but they ended up hitting a couple of unexpected shots and then demonstrated pretty good ball-handling skills by weaving through our defense to get some layups toward the end of the game.
Different league with a different set of rules that knocked us of balance a bit, but it looks like we have some nice additions to the team and once the chemistry develops and we've adjusted to the new rules, we should be winning our fair share of games in this league. We've been hoping for the day where we could full-court press anytime we wanted, and here's an opportunity. This league allows for any type of defense (man or zone) and any type of press at anytime. So, this should be an exciting set of games. Great development opportunities for both players and coaches!
Game highlights had half our team scoring, all but 2 players tallying rebounds.
Good start to the second season, girls. Go Pirates!
